1. Medical Anthropology and Health Sociology (for Bachelor of public heath - Regular and In-service training)

Anthropology is defined as “the scientific study of human, including the origin, the development, the civil society groups, the religions, the languages, the arts and the creatures of human”. Medical anthropology is a subfield of Applied anthropology, the subject uses the theory of Anthropology to explain and solve health issues.

Sociology is defined as “the scientific study of society and social behavior of human”. Health Sociology is a subfield of Sociology to explain social causes and consequences of health issues.

Since 2010-2011, the 2 subjects Health Sociology and Applied Medical Anthropology werecombined intoMedical Anthropology and Health Sociology to teach for Bachelor of public heath- Pre-service and In-service. 2. Health Psychology and Ethics (for Bachelor of public heath – Regular and In-service training)

The subject Health Psychology and Ethics was formed by Health Psychology and Ethics in Public Health according to the curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Training. To meet the training curriculum of HSPH, this subject was divided into 2 components: Health Psychology and Ethics 1 – focusing on Health Psychology (taught in the 2nd semester) and Health Psychology and Ethics 2 – targeting Ethics in Public Health (taught in the 7th semester for fulltime bachelor and 8th semester for in-service training).

Health Psychology is a subject which focuses on applying and developing psychological theories, concepts and methods. Health Psychology is the linkage between psychological and health situations. Health Psychology has been taught in the Hanoi School of Public Health since 2002 with the aim to help students understand and apply health psychological approaches. Afterward, students can identify and analyze the impact of psychological factors on health, as well as apply psychological communication skills to identify and intervent prority health issues.

Ethics in Public Health provides learners (students) with scientific approaches to ethical and value issues in public health. This subject is designed to help learners identify issues that public health practitioners have to face. Learning about these issues force students to discuss the conflicts, values and ethics arising from public health practice.
